I grew up in a remote part of Bhutan, surrounded by nature. As a young boy, I dreamt of escaping village life for the city, longing for skyscrapers, cars, and modern comforts. Eventually, I pursued those opportunities and left my country in 2018. While I found the modern facilities I had wished for, I also found a world where time moves too fast. Everyone is caught in a vicious cycle, struggling to survive and finding little time for one another. This lifestyle eventually took its toll, and I was diagnosed with anxiety.
It’s true that life sometimes has to ‘smack you in the face’ to teach you a lesson. I realised that fulfilment isn’t found in effortless city facilities. I turned to travel and self-taught photography, which helped me see that true beauty lies in the unhurried moment. Despite the challenges, I find a rare clarity of mind when I am in nature with my camera. That is how my love for travel and landscape was born.
